Born and raised in the Lake District, Fiona Jane Burgess started out directing music videos for her band Woman’s Hour. During this time, she collaborated with artist-duo Broomberg and Chanarin to develop a visual aesthetic for the band including creating film, artwork and a touring stage set. Her work takes inspiration from the documentaries of Frederic Wiseman and the films of Clio Bernard, often using real people as the protagonists in her films. Burgess has an MA in Performance Studies and a strong interest in conceptual art, dance and live performance.
